Is Your Cup Half-Full or Half-Empty
Attitude: your attitude is an organic state of readiness to respond characteristically to a stimulus—an object, concept, or situation. Your attitude is 100 percent in your control. It’s a choice you get to make 100 percent of the time. You can choose to see the bad things that will happen to you negatively, or as an opportunity to grow—a chance to learn the lesson it is trying to teach you and try again. This time, a little more informed. You have a choice. Everything is a choice. You get to decide if your cup is half-full or half-empty.
Worth Remembering - Between stimulus and response, there is a space. And in that space lies our freedom and power to choose our response. In those choices are our growth opportunities and our happiness. - Stephen Covey.
Viktor Frankl, a Nazi Concentration Camp survivor, understood the power to choose. Viktor understood that no one could decide how he should react to what was happening around him —only he could. Viktor believed that the most powerful motivating force in one’s life is the belief that a better future awaits us. Bad things happen to good people. That’s a given. How we choose to react to them is optional. You get to decide if your cup is half-full or half-empty.
Worth Remembering - The bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn. - Amanda Curtis Kane.
Do you walk around all day thinking that your cup is half-full or half-empty? I am, without a doubt, the most optimistic person you will ever meet. I choose to see the positives in everything that happens to me. Even the negative things that happen—and trust me, there have been plenty — are positives. It just depends on how I choose to look at them.
The next time you’re faced with having to make a choice, ask yourself;
What’s in it for me? What do I want? I must act in a way that will get me what I want.
Is there a lesson here? What am I supposed to learn from this so I don’t make the same mistake twice?
If I don’t get the result I’m looking for, what am I prepared to do about it? Do I have a plan B?
Worth Remembering - When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound.; rebuild those plans and set sail once more toward your goal. - Napoleon Hill.
Your life is a series of choices. The only limits to the possibilities in your life are the ‘Buts’ you use today. In the words of Larry Winget, best known as the Pit Bull of Motivational Speakers - ‘Your success is your own damn fault.’ I agree with Larry. You get to decide if your cup is half-full or half-empty.
